This thermal infrared image of the Pariang/El Toor area was collected by the Landsat Enhanced Thematic Mapper + satellite sensor (band 6). Graytones indicate relative surface temperature ranging from dark tones (relatively cool) to
light tones (relatively warm). The arrows highlight the image's 'hot spots' which coincide with
the sources of the smoke plumes visible in the landsat bands 1, 2 and 3 (blue, green, red).
These 'hot spots' indicate fires as the cause of the smoke plumes. |
